Dr Vanessa Nichols

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Bristol University in 1993 and have worked in small animal veterinary practice in the UK for over 30 years. I particularly enjoy building caring relationships with both pets and their owners.

I’m delighted to be the Lead Vet at Village Vet Whittlesford — a place that holds special significance for me. I grew up locally, and this very practice is where I first came for work experience as a school student. It’s where my passion for veterinary medicine began, and I feel very privileged to have come full circle and work with a team of talented and dedicated colleagues, in our superb, purpose-built new facility.

My special interests include internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, and dentistry. I hold a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (CertAVP) and am an experienced Official Veterinarian (OV), which means I can assist pet owners with preparing their animals for travel abroad.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, hiking, cycling, tending to my allotment, and singing in a local choir.
