Specialisation

about village vet specialisationsDid you know it takes a vet five years to study for their first degree?

But this is just the start of many years of extra study and in some cases, a development of interest to become an accomplished experienced general practitioner -all vets need to demonstrate that they undertake a minimum of 35 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) each year and in some cases, much more.

In addition to this, vets can choose to go on to study for additional post-graduate qualifications, so that they can become expert in a particular field, and you can find more information about these special qualifications using the links below:

Certificates and Diplomas awarded by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons

We maintain the very highest standards at Village Vet, and a number of our vets in our London practices hold additional post-graduate qualifications, certificates and specialist diplomas which is truly exceptional of within veterinary practice groups.

This helps you to know that you are making the right choice for your pet with Village Vet.

What Makes Us Different?

Why are we “Special Vets for Special Pets” and what makes us unique?

We encourage our vets and nurses to be committed to continued professional development. This results in a highly trained and skilled work force, dedicated to providing quality care to support the health and well-being of your pets.

Vets and nurses with advanced qualifications require excellent facilities and diagnostic equipment to perform to the best of their ability. All our practices are part of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Practice Standards Scheme.

what makes us differentThis is an external accreditation. We are proud that out of our 30 sites, three are graded at the highest level – emergency hospital standard.

These are the highest standards attainable for surgeries such as ours and show that we have been independently accredited as performing to the highest standards of veterinary care.

Our 24 hour hospitals in Hampstead, St Albans, Milton are always available at any moment in time to treat an emergency.

We have many Cat Friendly clinic with our Village Vet family.. We understand how stressed cats can be, when visiting the vets and staying in a vet hospital. These cat only spaces provide very large kennel space as well as exclusive cat only quiet wards reducing the stress cats experience at a vet.

We have integrated Veterinary Specialists (The highest qualification a vet can attain) into general practice in our London practices. We have a specialist soft tissue surgeon who performs highly complex surgery and specialises in “keyhole” minimally invasive surgery. This provides a unique standard of care.

Our nurses are fully qualified Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs). For them, the job is a vocation. Our nurses are not just excellently trained but are genuinely caring, respectful to pets and clients alike and thoroughly devoted to the industry.

Many of our nurses have attained advanced accreditations and provide superb levels of care. Click here to see what our nurses do. At Village Vet we will not anaesthetise a pet without a qualified Veterinary Nurse in attendance.

We are a part of the Linnaeus Group (a subsidiary of Mars Veterinary Health).

Village Vet runs a beautiful cattery adjacent to our St Albans Vet Hospital. This means there is 24hr veterinary care for peace of mind while you are away.
