Rebecca (Becky) Thorne grew up in the south coast town of Worthing; attending Worthing Sixth Form college and then Girton College Cambridge.
After graduating in 2001, she worked as a small animal assistant vet at a busy family run practice in Suffolk, including on-call duties covering the 4 branches.
After 4 years, Becky took a part-time night and weekend position at Vets Now in Colchester. This covered the local out of hours work and enabled an insight into this developing field of practice.
In 2010 Becky moved with her family to Cambridge and worked as a locum night vet for a short time before taking a position as a day vet with on call at a local independent practice. Here she developed an interest in dermatology and gained her GpCert in dermatology in 2015.
In 2019 Becky decided to move back into night (out of hours) work and took her current position at Village Vet Milton. Becky is enjoying the varied caseload and is planning to study for another GpCert in ECC in 2020.
Outside of work, Becky has 3 daughters currently 10, 11 and 14 years, a cat called Rosa, a working cocker spaniel called Violet and a hamster called Nibbles. She enjoys walking the dog and riding the ponies at her local riding school.
