Dr Rebecca Thorne

Veterinary Surgeon

I grew up in Worthing, Sussex and attended Worthing Sixth Form College before moving to study veterinary science at Cambridge University. I graduated in 2001 and began working as a small animal vet within a mixed practice in Suffolk. Four years and one daughter later, I moved to a practice in Colchester to work nights and some weekends for the emergency vets- Vets Now. During the next four years, we had two more daughters and I continued to work nights and weekends. After a move to Cambridge due to my husband’s job, I locumed for a time and then took a day vet post at a local family practice which provided their own on-call. Eight years later and after the out-sourcing of the on-call work meant a loss of these types of cases; I decided to move back into emergency work and took the night vet position at Milton Village Vets. Over the last three years, I have completed further studies to become an RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in emergency and critical care.

At home, as well as my three teenage daughters, I have a cat called Rosa, a working cocker spaniel called Violet and loan a lovely, small coloured cob called Billy.
