At Village Vet in London, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive care for your pets whenever they need it most. Our team of experienced veterinarians and specialists is committed to offering advanced internal medicine services and exceptional emergency and critical care to ensure the health and well-being of your beloved companions.

Internal Medicine Services

If your pet is suffering from clinical problems that are not obviously surgical, they may be treated by our Internal Medicine team. These conditions include vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive drinking, malaise, weight loss or gain, anaemia and fever.

The Internal Medicine team are the detectives who work to establish a diagnosis. Once we understand your pet’s illness, we can then discuss options and tailor a treatment plan to your pet’s individual needs.

Typically, after an initial consultation, a patient will be admitted for further investigation such as blood tests, radiographs, ultrasound or endoscopy. After the tests, unless immediate additional treatment is needed, animals may go home to await results. Sometimes, if a patient is found to have a non-medical disease and, for example, needs surgery or cancer treatment, they may be transferred to another team within the hospital.

We understand that pets can suffer from illnesses that are not always immediately apparent, which is why we offer:

  • Advanced Diagnostics: Utilising state-of-the-art equipment such as digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, endoscopy, and in-house laboratory services, we can quickly and accurately diagnose conditions affecting the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, gastrointestinal tract, and more.
  • Specialist Consultations: Our team includes veterinary specialists in cardiology, neurology, oncology, and endocrinology, providing expert care for pets with specific or complex medical needs.
  • Personalised Treatment Plans: We tailor our treatment strategies to your pet's unique condition and needs, ensuring they receive the most effective therapies available.

Conditions We Commonly Treat:

  • Endocrine disorders like diabetes and thyroid disease
  • Respiratory issues such as asthma and pneumonia
  • Gastrointestinal problems including inflammatory bowel disease
  • Renal (kidney) and urinary tract diseases
