At Village Vet, we are committed to providing the highest level of care for your pets. One of the critical tools we use to diagnose and treat health conditions is diagnostic imaging. This technology allows us to look inside your pet’s body non-invasively, using advanced equipment like X-rays, ultrasounds, endoscopy and CT scans.

With these methods, we can identify a wide range of issues—from broken bones and dental problems to internal concerns like tumours, organ abnormalities, and complex heart conditions.

Our Diagnostic Imaging Services:

  1. X-rays (Radiographs):

Utilising modern digital radiography, we capture detailed images of your pet's bones, lungs, heart, and other organs. This quick and painless procedure helps us immediately detect fractures, locate foreign objects, and assess certain soft tissue conditions.

  2. Ultrasound:

Ultrasound is an ideal way of imaging in real-time. For many of our patients it can be utilised in obtaining biopsies from organs without the need for major surgery. At Village Vet, we have ultrasound imaging facilities and a wide range of ultrasound probes, allowing us to see inside and behind the eye of ocular patients, inside the abdomen (and the chest) of some of our medical and soft tissue surgical patients, and even into muscles and tendons of some of orthopaedic patients.

We would sometimes use ultrasound to search for foreign bodies, like (those pesky) grass seeds that cause all sorts of problems over the summer months.

We commonly use ultrasound as part of our initial assessment when patients arrive as emergencies. A point of care ultrasound, a POCUS, can quickly reveal bleeding or fluid in abnormal places in a matter of moments.

  3. Endoscopy:

Our endoscopy services involve using a flexible tube with a camera (an endoscope) to visualise the inside of your pet's gastrointestinal tract and other internal organs. This minimally invasive procedure allows us to diagnose conditions such as gastrointestinal blockages, ulcers, and cancers. It also enables us to retrieve swallowed objects and take tissue biopsies without the need for open surgery.

  4. CT Scans (Computed Tomography):

For more complex cases, our CT scans provide highly detailed cross-sectional images of your pet’s body. This advanced imaging is invaluable for diagnosing conditions involving the brain, spine, or chest, and for detecting small lesions or tumours that might not be visible with other methods.
