Brendan Robinson - BVSc MRCVS
Brendan qualified at the University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort) in South Africa in 1983 and has worked in small animal practice for the past 20 years. He has attended numerous congresses world wide and many further education courses including a two year course in veterinary radiology. Brendan developed the Village Vet Group from a two person one nurse practice in Belsize Park in 1988 to the current 17 site group across North London and Cambridge. Brendan set up the Village Vet Group to provide the best veterinary care with vets who continue to further their qualifications, to maintain a strong academic culture, excellent modern equipment and well trained qualified nurses, in clean hygienic facilities, and to provide excellent service to the local community. Brendan is married with four children, three dogs - a Golden Retriever called Buddy and two Yorkshire Terriers, Truly and Madley - and a British Blue cat called Sky. |

Danny Parry - BSc (Hons) BVSc MRCVS
Danny graduated from Liverpool Vet School in 1999 and spent his first 2 years working at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home where he gained valuable veterinary and behavioural experience. Danny had worked with Village Vet as a student and was inspired by the veterinary and client care demonstrated by Brendan Robinson.

Russell Welsh - BVSc BSC Hon MRCVS
I qualified in South Africa in June of 2000. I graduated top of my class and spent time in the USA doing a small animal internship. I have worked in both small and mixed animal practices, as well as having a degree in wildlife management, and have worked with most of Africa’s Wildlife. I am now a Partner in Village Vet Potters Bar, Brookmans Park and Caytons veterinary surgeries and love the diversity of being a vet. I am currently enrolled in a small animal surgery certificate but enjoy all aspects of veterinary science. I have a young family keeping me busy as well as Elsa the Springer Spaniel, Dave the cat and a tortoise called Herbie. |

Sean McInnes - BVSc(Hons) MVS (Small Animal Medicine and Surgery) MACVSc (Small Animal Medicine) MRCVS
Sean graduated with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 1994 and worked in a well equipped 4 vet practice in the suburbs of Melbourne for 5 years. This experience gave Sean a brilliant grounding in small animal medicine and surgery as well as radiology, ultrasound and endoscopy. This practice also had special interest in breeding work, artificial insemination, greyhound medicine and serviced the police dog squad in Victoria. Sean completed his Masters in Veterinary Studies in small animal medicine and surgery in 2000, passing all examinations with distinction or high distinction. After several months locuming around Australia Sean travelled for 5 months through the Middle East before moving to London. After a 15 month locum position in Upminster Sean joined the Village Vet team in May 2002. In July 2008 Sean sat his examinations for entrance into the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Medicine and was given an award for outstanding performance in all aspects of the examination. Sean is the Partner and Head Vet, with over 12 years of experience, at the Hampstead Practice. Outside of work , Sean enjoys cooking, scuba diving, movies and theatre and loves to travel.

Simon Hayes - BVM&S MRCVS
Simon Hayes qualified from Edinburgh University in 1994 and has been working in small animal practice ever since. Simon is a member of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and, as well as being a general practitioner, has a further interest in veterinary ophthalmology. Simon is a partner at the Winchmore Hill and Southgate Practices and has 3 children, 2 cats and a Border terrier. |

Reynier Oelofsen - BVSc MRCVS
Rey joined our Whittlesford practice in February 2009. He was born and raised in South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort) in 2004. Rey came over to the UK in 2005 with his wife Sandra where he has worked in small animal practice with both a general medicine and surgical bias. He has a 2 year old son called Jarno and 2 cats, Woody and Buzz In his spare time he enjoys traveling, mountain biking, snowboarding and attempts to lower his handicap on the golf course.

Naty Yadlin - BVSc MRCVS
Naty qualified in 1996 from a small University in the Ecuadorian Andes with further studies in New Zealand. His graduation thesis was on the prevelance of gastrointestinal parasites in the Specatcle bear, the only bear found in Southern America. Since graduation Naty has worked in some exotic places like Fiji and Botswana with large, very large and small animals. Naty moved to the UK about 5 years ago and has been at Village Vet Pampisford since. Naty is married with one teenage girl, one dog, Archie, whom many of you may have met at the Practice and 2 cats Cleo and Anthony.

James Creasey - BVSc CertSAS MRCVS
James graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 2003 after which he joined the PDSA in Romford as a veterinary surgeon with a surgical bias. James spent 5 years working at Romford, learning from other surgeons at the RVC, and achieving his RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. James then moved to Bow PDSA as Head Veterinary Surgeon where he managed a 9 vet team, a branch and the 24 hour emergency service for Bow, Iford and Romford PDSA Hospitals. At Bow he was responsible for all complicated surgical cases and as such his typical day would include at least 8 major procedures along with cases that were admitted during the day. James joined Village Vet at the end of 2009 to work as Surgeon at our Hampstead and Milton clinics. |

Jamie Rushton - BVetMed MSc(Clinical Animal Behaviour) CertVDI MACVSc(Avian) DipAB(CABC) MRCVS
Jamie qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2001. He joined Village Vet Hampstead in 2007 where in 2009 he was proudly voted Runner Up in Pet Plan's Vet of the Year Awards. Jamie’s special interests lie in clinical animal behaviour, avian medicine and diagnostic imaging. Jamie holds formal post-graduate level qualifications in avian medicine, surgery and behaviour, having completed examination for entry into the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists - Avian Chapter, and in imaging he holds the RCVS certificate in veterinary diagnostic imaging. Passing with distinction, Jamie holds one of the premier university post-graduate qualifications for animal behaviour counselling from Southampton University DipAB(CABC) and in recognition of the importance of animal behaviour, Jamie went on to complete a Masters in Clinical Animal Behaviour at Lincoln University under the guidance of Professor D. Janet Littlewood - MA PhD BVSc DVR DVD MRCVS RCVS Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Dermatology
Janet Littlewood graduated from the Bristol Veterinary School in 1977 before completing an Internship at the University of Pennsylvania. After a couple of years in general practice Janet joined the Cambridge Veterinary School as Small Animal Assistant Physician and subsequently was awarded a doctorate in 1988. For 12 years Janet was Head of the Dermatology Unit at the Animal Health Trust, Newmarket, with clinical and research interests in both small animal and equine dermatology. Janet has over 20 years' experience in referral veterinary dermatology, built on a sound foundation of training and interest in general internal medicine. She holds the RCVS Diploma in Veterinary Dermatology and has RCVS Recognised Specialist Status. She has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as contributions to textbooks as both author and co-editor. Janet is internationally recognised in her field, being an invited speaker at European Society of Veterinary Dermatology Congresses and other Veterinary Dermatology Conferences worldwide. She is a regular speaker at regional meetings and on continuing education programmes, renowned for her enthusiasm for her subject. Dr Littlewood has now established an independent clinical referral dermatology service. She is available for consultations at our Milton surgery in North Cambridge. |

Gloria de Palma - MVB PhD MRCVS
Gloria was born in the South of Italy where she graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1996 before starting a PhD in infectious diseases, which she completed in the year 2000. Gloria moved to the UK in 2001 and worked in various small animal practices in Cambridgeshire before joining us in July 2006. Gloria's main field of interest is internal medicine. Gloria has a wonderful daughter and four mad cats called Millie, Mavis, Carlotta and Topsy. Gloria loves to spend her time with friends and family, going on holiday and skydiving when she has the time! |

Maddie Bamford - BVSc BA GPCert(FelP) MRCVS
Maddie graduated with First Class Honours as a veterinary surgeon from The University of Sydney in Australia and has subsequently worked in small animal practice in London. She has worked as a vet in charity and private practice and has been with Village Vet, at their Highgate branch, for the last two years before recently being appointed as Head Vet at our Maida Vale clinic. Maddie is currently working towards a GP Certificate in Feline Practice and has a beloved cat called Mabel and a rescue greyhound called Finn. |

Margaret Wilkes - MA VetMB PhD CertVR MRCVS
Margaret (Mardie) graduated from Cambridge University and went into general practice where she attained a Certificate in Veterinary Radiology. She then returned to Cambridge to undertake research but found she missed the contact with animals and their owners. After gaining a PhD Mardie returned to small animal practice and now works mainly at the Cottenham surgery. Mardie lives locally and has three children as well as a sheep, several chickens, two tortoises and a Dalmatian, Ben. |

Alexa Selwyn - BSc (Hons) BVSc (Hons) MRCVS
Alexa is our head vet at the Meldreth clinic, working every weekday and some Saturdays. She graduated from Bristol University in 2007 and has worked in small animal practice ever since. Alexa is keen on all aspects of small animal medicine, and has a particular interest in acupuncture as a form of pain-relief in pets. She also has a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare - behavioural issues can affect you and your pet just as strongly as any disease, so do feel free to discuss any behavioral concerns in your consultation. Whilst Alexa's tailess rescue cat Megs sleeps at home during the day (in a typical cat-like fashion!), you may well see her practice dog Roscoe keeping an eye on everything from behind reception - don't be fooled by his calm appearance, he is as bouncy and mischievous as any young labrador when there are other dogs to play with! Whilst not at work, Alexa spends her time climbing, baking, and playing the piano - if she isn't busy walking the dogs...

Daisy Frankenberger- MRCVS
Daisy was born in South Africa but unfortunately only spent two years in the lovely country before her family went back to Munich, Germany, where Daisy grew up and went to school. Daisy has always been surrounded by dogs and other pets (cats and horses) and had a big interest in science, so there was never a doubt in her mind that she wanted to be a vet. Daisy qualified from the University of Leipzig, Germany, in 2008. During her studies Daisy gained fantastic work experience in Australia. After graduating, Daisy started working at the small animal veterinary clinic of the University of Berlin and then moved to work in a private veterinary clinic in Augsburg and finally a great small animal practice in Munich. To complement her veterinary knowledge Daisy has completed a Diploma in Canine Behaviour and finds this aspect fascinating and really enjoys challenging behavioural cases. Daisy enjoys working together with pets and their owners and is always happy to help. Daisy’s aim is to provide the best possible medical care whilst understanding the animal´s mind as far as possible and working together with owners to get the best care for their pets. Daisy is looking forward to working at the Village Vet Southgate practice and getting to know all the pets and their owners. |

Nathan Srebernik - DVM MSc MRCVS
Nathan was born in 1957 in Israel and qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon in 1987. Nathan settled in the UK a year later, where he gained a further degree at the Hammersmith Post Graduate Medical School. Nathan then started working in the Royal Veterinary College as a Lecturer for four years and has from then on have worked in private practices in various parts of London, including Hayes, Greenford and Enfield, and now happily joined the Village Vet Group in Ealing. Nathan is enthusiastic about being a vet and loves communicating with clients and caring for their pets. Nathan has an interest in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, including looking after bunnies. Nathan has several pets at home, including two cats and a house rabbit. He is also a keen pianist, with a love of classical music.

Sarah Cooper - BVetMed MRCVS
Sarah qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2003. Sarah spent 6 years working at a primarily small animal practice in West Suffolk and then went on to spend 6 months working as a Fellow in Small Animal Medicine at the Animal Health Trust just outside Newmarket. In 2008 she gained a general practitioner certificate in small animal medicine and is currently studying for her RCVS certificate in small animal medicine that she hopes to complete in the summer of 2010. She lives just outside Newmarket with her husband and two very handsome black cats. Her interests outside of work include running, reading and playing the piano. |

Gracia Vila - DVM MSc Wild Animal Health MRCVS
Gracia is our expert on exotic pets. Since qualifying in 1998 Gracia has worked as a vet in private practice and at the Royal Veterinary College Beaumont Animals Hospital where her caseload ranged from dogs and cats to a wide variety of small mammals, birds, reptiles and even fish. In 2002 Gracia completed the Royal Veterinary College MSc degree in Wild Animal Health and is currently preparing for the RCVS Certificate in Zoological Medicine. |

Paul Smith - BVetMed DVC MRCVS
Paul graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 1997 before spending a year in first opinion practice and completing a junior clinical training scholarship in 'Small Animal Medicine and Surgery' and then a three year senior clinical training scholarship in 'Veterinary Cardiopulmonary Medicine' at the R(D)SVS, The University of Edinburgh. Paul's main areas of interest are clinical cardiopulmonary medicine and interventional cardiology. Since completing his residency Paul has been working in private referral practice where he recently set up an ambulatory referral service for dogs and cats with cardiopulmonary disease. Paul also runs a clinic at Village Vet Milton twice per month. |

Alison graduated from Edinburgh University in 1993 and ,after three years in mixed practice in Yorkshire, moved to Australia where she spent four years in first opinion and referral practice. Alison has also completed a post-graduate programme in internal medicine through the University of Sydney. In 2000, Alison joined the Winchmore Hill Practice and in 2003 was awarded the Certificate in Small Animal Medicine by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Alison's professional interests include diagnostic ultrasonography and cardiorespiratory medicine. Outside of work Alison enjoys dance, Spanish and playing piano. Alison lives with her husband, daughter and a ginger cat called Harry. |

Anna has a tabby cat called Hobbes and a horse called Orla whome she spends her free time riding and competing in show jumping, dressage and one day event competitions. |

Charlotte Searle - BVetMed MRCVS
Charlotte graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2003 and spent the two years following graduation at a small animal practice in Suffolk. In 2006 Charlotte moved to Mauritius for 6 months to carry out voluntary work for the charity known as PAWS. This project involved working with the locals as part of a massive neutering campaign whilst promoting animal welfare and setting up an adoption scheme. After locuming for a period she joined the Village Vet group in 2007. At present Charlotte is training for a half marathon and enjoys karate. She has got two cats called Squid and Austin. |

Chris Maguire - MA VetMB CertSAM MACVSc MRCVS
Chris qualified from Cambridge University in 2001 and has spent his whole career in North London. During this time Chris has developed a special interest in small animal medicine which led him to achieving the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2006, followed more recently by becoming a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists - Feline Medicine Chapter. Chris's clinical interests lie in all aspects of medicine but particularly feline medicine and the management of cancer in cats and dogs. Chris has a Cocker Spaniel called Oscar, who occupies a lot of his spare time, and also loves to cook and entertain. |

Emma Bowman - MA VetMB Cert GP (SAM) MRCVS
Emma was born and raised in North London. Emma studied veterinary medicine at Newnham College, Cambridge University, graduating in 1998. Emma's first job after qualifying was in a mixed practice in Lincolnshire but after two years she decided to specialise in companion animals and spent five years at a large practice near Boston, Lincolnshire. Emma moved to Cambridge to work for Village Vet in 2006 and is thoroughly enjoying her work at the Longstanton Practice. Emma holds the RCVS Certficate in General Practice specialising in Small Animal Medicine. Emma is currently in the process of buying a house in Longstanton which she will share with her Dalmatian, Florence, and three cats, Winnie, Ally and Charlotte. Her interests outside work include going to the gym, reading, dog walking, films and playing the piano very badly. |

Fiona McGuckin - MVB MRCVS
Fiona qualified from University College Dublin in 2001 and worked as a small animal general practioner with an interest in surgery in Norfolk and Cambridge until October 2007. Fiona started working for Village Vet as a locum in November 2007 and was impressed by the excellent standard of care given to patients and clients. As a result she joined the Village Vet Whittlesford branch as a full time member in August 2009, keen to develop a further interest in feline internal medicine. With Maria on maternity leave Fiona has taken over as Acting Head Vet for the duration of Maria’s maternity leave. Fiona hopes to build on the excellent base created by Maria and see Meldreth go from strength to strength. Fiona lives just outside of Cambridge with 3 cats and one husband and spends her free time reading, running and gardening. |

Gemma O'Donoghue - MVB, MRCVS
Gemma O'Donoghue qualified from University College Dublin in 2007 with Honours. She had a special interest in horses growing up and she spent time after college working in the equine industry. Since she has worked in a variety of small animal practices in both Ireland and England. Gemma joined the Village Vet team in April 2010 as the emergency night vet at our hampstead branch. She enjoys emergency and critical care work and is doing further studies in this area. Gemma has a lovely Border Collie in Ireland, named Abbie, that she rescued as a puppy andenjoys horse-riding, hockey, skiing and socialising in her spare time. |

Heather Stone - MA VetMB MRCVS
Heather graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1999. Heather's first post was in a mixed practice in north Surrey where she worked for two and a half years before moving back to the Cambridge area in 2002. Heather has been working at Village Vet in Longstanton and Cottenham since. Outside of work Heather enjoys jogging with her dogs and can often be found at local toddler groups. She lives locally with her husband, sons, labradors Poppy and Jess, and cat, Harry. |

Jo joined Village Vet in March 2006 and transferred to our Whittlesford branch permanently in Spring 2008. She grew up in Scotland and graduated from Edinburgh University in 2002. She has worked in both large animal and small animal practices. Jo has completed a further certificate in Small Animal Practice and Small Animal Surgery. Jo's interests include snow boarding, mountain biking and has a green belt in traditional Judo. She has a border terrier called Eccles who is naughty but cute with it and a rescued cat called Inca.

John Kidman- BVSc MRCVS
John graduated from Liverpool University and after some charity work neutering cats and dogs in Thailand he started working in mixed practice in the Peak District. In the summer of 2007 John started work with Village vet as float vet after already spent alot of time with Village Vet completing a number of work experience placements in the Southgate and Winchmore Hill branches since the age of 16. Outside work John enjoys scuba diving, surfing and running. He has a cat called Izzy. |

Justine Berger - BVSc GP Cert FelP MRCVS
Justine qualified in South Africa in 1995 and joined the Village Vet team in 1996. Justine was the senior vet at our Maida Vale Clinic for 5 years, working exclusively with cats. In this time Justine gained a General Practitioner Certificate in Feline Practice. Justine now consults at Village Vet Hampstead and Village Vet Garden Suburb. Justine lives locally with her husband, three rescue cats and her two lovely girls.

Lisa Bottrill - BSc BVetMed MACVSc MRCVS
Lisa graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2002 after gaining a BSc in psychology at UCL. Lisa went straight to Australia to work in a mixed practice in Bundaberg, Queensland where she developed a special interest in small animal medicine which in turn led to her achieving her Australian Membership qualification in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2008. At the end of 2008 Lisa moved back to the UK and now lives in Potters Bar with her Australian husband and her 'zoo'! three Aussie dogs (Kodie, Jack and Occy) and her rescue cat Gordon. In her free time Lisa enjoys swimming and loves to cook and entertain.

Maud van de Stadt- MRCVS
Maud graduated as a veterinary surgeon from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. During her time as an undergraduate she developed an interest in internal medicine and completed a thesis in feline liver disease. She first worked in a mixed practice in Holland before moving to the UK to undertake a 3 year residency in internal medicine at the University of Bristol, sponsored by the Feline Advisory Bureau. Whilst at Bristol she met her future British husband David, who is a veterinary ophthalmologist. Together they moved to Hertfordshire in 2003. Maud then took on a scientific role with Hill's Pet Nutrition Europe for 5 years, training their veterinary staff on nutrition and taking responsibility for the technical aspects of their marketing materials. She continued keeping her hands in practice by working for Village Vet Maida Vale at the weekends. In 2009 she returned to full time practice work. Maud has three young children, Madelijn, Minouk and Matthijs and two Tonkinese cats, Hector & Humphrey. Her special interests are feline medicine, nutrition and nasal-pharyngoscopy and endoscopy. She loves travelling (although due to family commitments is unable to do this as much as she used to), scuba-diving, hockey, pilates and skiing. Unusually for a vet she is scared of horses and (unusually for a girl!) doesn't like chocolate. |

Phil Myles- MA VetMB MRCVS
Philip Myles qualified from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 2006. After qualifying, Philip moved up to Northumberland where he worked for a year as an intern at an orthopaedic and neurology referral centre before returning to Cambridge and joining the Milton branches of Village Vet and Vet24 in January 2008. Philip's interests outside of work include cooking and Canoe Polo. You may well find him paddling up and down the Cam in training for his next tournament.

Robin Hughes-Parry - BVetMed CertPM MRCVS
Robin is a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London. After qualifying Robin moved to Cambridge and went into general practice at Longstanton where he soon became a partner. Having originally started his veterinary career in mixed practice Robin went on to develop and expand the small animal side of the practice, opening a second surgery at Cottenham a few years later. Robin enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and in 1995 gained a Certificate in medicine. Robin's interests include sailing, walking and ornithology. He is married with two children and has two Birman cats, Alfie and Oscar. |

Talia Teren - MA VetMB MRCVS
Talia joined Village Vet in September 2006. Since graduating from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 2002 Talia has worked in small animal practice in Berkshire and London. In 2005, Talia took up a voluntary vet position with the charity clinic SPCA in Fiji. During her time there Talia worked with the local central team and operated field clinics in the more remote islands. Aside from treating individual animals the clinics were designed to promote animal welfare and improve education. Talia will be working towards a Certificate in Advanced Medicine. She has a cat, Mungo, and enjoys photography, surfing and snowboarding. |

Zoë DeBarro - BVetMed MRCVS
Zoë DeBarro qualified from the Royal Veterinary Clinic in 1997. After working in mixed practice in Bristol and Hertfordshire Zoe moved to Cottenham in 2003. Zoe's special interests include ophthalmology and internal medicine. Away from work Zoe spends her time with her three children and also sings alto with the City of London Chamber Choir which performs in concerts and cathedral services throughout the UK. |

Tynke Bakker - DVM FVH MRCVS
Tynke joined our Whittlesford practice in August 2010. She grew up in the Netherlands and graduated from vet school in Utrecht in 2004 having completed a post graduate internship in the small animal department. She has worked for two years in general practice in the Netherlands before moving to Switzerland to work in a small animal referral hospital to finish a certificate in Small Animal Practice (FVH). Tynke is a keen cross-country skier and loves sailing. She lives with Paul and her German longhair pointer, Topper in Newmarket.

Vanessa Nichols - BVSc MRCVS
Vanessa graduated from Bristol University in 1993. Vanessa initially worked in a farm and companion animal practice in North Somerset before moving back to her hometown Cambridge to specialise in small animal work. Vanessa has worked at Village Vet Meldreth since 2005 and is particularly interested in diagnostic imaging, soft tissue surgery and rabbit health. Vanessa is currently studying towards a post-graduate certificate in advanced veterinary practice. Outside work, Vanessa enjoys the outdoors and loves to go camping, hiking and cycling with her family. She has recently rescued an elderly semi-feral cat who is now part of the family. |
