Nurses
There is a real difference.
Veterinary Nurses
Most vet practices in the UK still employ 'assistants' to help their vets and often they may be termed 'nurses' but the stark reality is that there is no comparison. Whereas these 'assistants' are usually either untrained or have 'learned on the job', a Registered Veterinary Nurse has trained at college for two years to gain a national, recognised qualification.
Putting theory into practice
Through their formal training, our veterinary nurses are highly skilled and have learned the correct procedures in surgery, basic veterinary knowledge and, most importantly, clinical theory. As a result, they can provide the best quality support for our vets and your pets in many different ways:
• Assisting vets in surgery and monitoring anaesthetics
• X-rays, tending to dressings and bandages of patients after surgery, and monitoring recovery of hospitalised pets
• Managing intravenous catheters, dental hygiene treatments, and laboratory blood testing
Simply the best
Our vet nurses are a fantastic resource for our vets, keeping a close eye on patients and bringing any unusual symptoms to their attention. And of course they still do the basics to ensure your pet's comfort and happiness - like taking patient dogs out for walks.
