All of our Village Vet vets have lots of experience with exotic pets, and in particular rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils. We are also lucky enough to have a number of clients with more unusual pets, so we have set up an exotics clinic in our Maida Vale and Ealing Village Vet practices.
Our Exotic clinic service is run by Gracia Vila DVM, MSc (Wild Animal Health), MRCVS in our Village Vet practices Maida Vale and Ealing. Since Gracia qualified in 1998, she has worked as a vet for private practice in London and at the Royal Veterinary College.
Gracia completed her MSc in Wild Animal Health at the Royal Veterinary College in 2002, gaining expertise treating the most unusual pets from fish, to reptiles, birds, small mammals and even wildlife. After this, she spent time working in Namibia on a conservation project for the Zoological Society of London and Dubai (UAE) for the Falcon Hospital.
Gracia has published several scientific papers and is a co-author of two volumes of the WildPro Electronic Encyclopaedia. Gracia joined the Village Vet in 2006 where she started the exotic clinic service. Gracia offers routine health checks and husbandry advice, neutering, dental treatment, diagnostics, and specialised hospitalisation and treatment facilities for exotic patients. We are fully equipped to care for exotic patients and have at our disposal: vivarium, incubator/ ICU unit, nebuliser, isoflurane vaporiser, pulse oximeter, doppler, dental kit for small mammals, radiology, ultrasound, pathology, laboratory and endoscopy equipment.
Our exotic clinic service is backed-up by the Vet24 emergency and critical care clinic in Hampstead such that any patients requiring ongoing care will benefit from round-the-clock supervision by a critical care vet and nurse.
